Launch of Godot 3D Ice Material Shaders and VFX

It all started with a Game Jam. In the last two hours of the jam, my internet connection went down, and I missed the submission guideline. But, I had a fully functional game - just not one that was polished. I had created the game with the idea that you're in a frozen complex, and I decided I wanted better visuals. I had a spell that shoots ice shards, and I looked around for something to make my ice shard look like ice. What I found was materials, and I had no idea how to actually use them. So, I learned. I ended up with some pretty cool materials I could add to object s to make them look icy. But, it still wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

Then I tried to turn them into dynamic visual shaders. I had the idea of ice crawling down the walls using a noise texture to make it look like melted ice. That worked at first, and then stopped working. I still haven't figured out why. However I learned how to make my materials transparent, and then how to layer them. I decided other people might be able to use the work I did, so I decided to put it together and make some examples.

While I was at it, I ended up creating some particle spell effects using the ice materials. I've found that there is very little information out there, and I thought that some examples might help other outs.

Enjoy!
